Lydie was found traveling alone by the busy side of the road, without a mother or human. In fear of her getting hit by the incoming traffic, the rescuer quickly scooped her up. Lydie is super outgoing and has not a skittish bone in her body. She loves people and loves dogs. She’s especially fearless when playing with large dogs! Being a Formosan Mountain Dog cross, Lydie is most likely going to be around 15-20kg and approximately a border collie size when fully grown. She will do best in a family with medium to high energy lifestyle and can provide lots of mental stimulation for her daily.

The rescuer was on her way to work when she saw Bego. He was extremely skinny and was just walking purposelessly. The rescuer had some kibbles in her car, so she called Bego. He came over right away and took the food. The rescuer saw that there’s an additional zip tie on his collar, and she wanted to take the collar off him to prevent his neck from being cut in. For this reason the rescuer took him to work to cut the collar. The rescuer thought to herself if Bego is still there then she will just take him in. He really still wondered around the rescure’s workplace and was always looking towards her direction. So Bego is rescued in and prepare to be adopted out.

He never gets mad, and would let children handle him. He loves affections but is not bothered when being left alone at home. Prince is low to medium energy and enjoys his walks. Beautiful Prince was left in the shelter in Northern Taiwan. Prince has also been tested with his reactions at different environments and his character has been consistent. Prince will do best in a home that lives a low to medium lifestyle, and can be around most of the time. Being a pure breed, Prince does have a congenital thrombocytopenia where his body has a naturally low palette count. He has no symptoms and just needs some monitoring. No medication is necessary.

Brindled Formosan Mountain Dog Lolita is Kongo’s litter mate. They were dumped together in a remote cemetery in Central Taiwan, and would have perished if the rescuers didn’t find them. Lolita is fantastic with children, people, dogs and cats, and can be handled hugged without fear. Being a Formosan Mountain Dog, Lolita will grow to approximately 18kg to 23kg, and around a border collie size. The breed is medium to high energy that needs good daily exercises and sufficient mental stimulation. If your schedule cannot accommodate, daycare and/or dog walkers are recommended.

2.5 months old Formosan Mountain Dog Kongo has this smile that melts your heart and all the tiredness of the day off of you. He’s loving, kitty, children, dog, and stranger friendly! He still does the puppy whimpering but we love the little baby cries! Kongo was tossed in a cemetery in Taiwan along with his sister Lolita. When they were found, they were on the brink of dying. It is evident that the person tossing them out ripped them from their mother before they were finished being nursed. In the beginning, both Kongo and Lolita were scared but they quickly opened up after learning they are finally in a safe environment. Being a Formosan Mountain Dog, Kongo will grow to a medium size dog around 18-23kg, and around a border collie size. They are mostly medium to high energy and will do best in a home that can provide good daily walks and good stimulations on weekdays and longer activities during weekends. Kongo is still too young to be neutered and must be adopted through our puppy program.

    [post_text_body]

Olga was in the shelter and she was the tiniest little pup there. Her skin was almost bare and was just so small. Turns out Olga was the smallest in the litter and her mommy had no choice but nurse her siblings more than her. The volunteers understand that Olga needs more care to survive and so they took Olga into foster care.

Olga lives with 6 other dogs and 1 kitty at the foster’s. She learned how to climb the stairs on her own and was the bravest little soul! Jodi  would be the big sis and help Olga and teach her everything on how to dog. Olga already knows her basic commands and just cannot be cuter!

Being a Formosan Mountain Dog, Olga will grow to a mid size dog with medium energy. She will be short haired. Formosan Mountain Dogs are extremely smart and have unique characters. Consistence and good leadership in addition to good treats are needed for positive and effective training.

    [post_text_body]

Navia was found in the tall grass near the rescuer’s workplace in Central Taiwan. Her right hind leg was injured and she was malnourished and too weak to get up and walk. After the rescuer nourished her back to health, she found Navia to be a super smart girl who reads human cues. She also learns super fast. Not only is she mentally capable, Navia is also very athletic. She’s able to effortlessly clear the 5 feet tall gates so her new adopter will need to be extra careful in the beginning! A formosan mountain dog is usually a medium energy dog that can chill at home but also keep up with the activity demands outdoors. They will be happiest in a home where they can be provided with minimum an hour of walks and/or off leash funs per day.

Found on the street with his siblings and mother. The litter was very cute so all the pups were adopted very quickly, but Oswald was returned in just shy of a week. Return is common for local adoption in Taiwan. Oswald is not only cute but quiet and well behaved! He can have a fantastic home here in Vancouver!

Being a FMDx, Oswald will be the happiest in a family that leads a medium, or medium to high energy lifestyle. This means at least one hour to 2 hours of walks and/or off leash fun per day. The breed is smart and very sensitive, and sometimes can be quite different with other dogs here in Canada. Consistency in handling is important for the healthy development of the pup. Oswald is expected to grow to a mid-size dog when full grown.
