Malcom was taken to the Yuanlin public shelter from a Fruit and Vegetable Market as a stray. The rescuer decided to find a foster for him after seeing a post on social media about Malcom. He wasn’t able to go get him for another month, so Malcom stayed in the public shelter for that extra time. When the rescuer did finally meet him, he was surprised at how affectionate Malcom was.

He’s a good dog, a little clingly, but great personality. He’s a little nervous at the beginning in an unfamiliar environment, but will not run away and hide. Once he meets kind people who feed him yummy food, he is very kind and affectionate to those people.

He is a medium size dog around 22 kg. Due to his intelligent, sensitive, and active nature , Malcom will do best in a family that has a medium to high energy life style.

Leela was originally owned by a foreign management worker. But he feared that the other foreign workers in the dormitory liked to eat dogs, so he tried to find someone else to take Leela. It was suggested to leave her in the same place he found her, or take her to an overcrowded shelter. But, eventually someone was found who could foster her. She is so friendly to strangers and happy-go-lucky, that it would be especially sad to see her on the streets.

Being a Formosan Mountain dog cross, she will grow to a medium size dog around 15kg and of a border collie size. Due to the intelligent, sensitive, and active nature of the breed, Leela will do best in a family that has a medium to high energy life style.

Dove was rescued from Miaoli public shelter, and was adopted when she was around 2 months old. The adopter’s mother would chain her in a cage and put her outside. There was a man that would constantly yell at her and deliberately startle her, so Dove became protective and would bark at other strangers that resembles that particular man. The adopter was not happy with how her mother treated Dove, so she asked the rescuer to find Dove a better home.

In the beginning, Dove was not very confident and was quite timid. After she gets to know the rescuer she becomes affectionate, obedient and food driven. She also has good recall at home. She can potty on grass, and she plays well with other dogs in the dog park. When living in a multi-dog household, she needs to have some distance between other dogs when feeding. Despite being food driven, she does not steal other dogs’ food.

Mayo was abandoned in the rice field when she was a puppy, and subsequently rescued and adopted by a couple. Unexpectedly, the couple was divorced and neither wanted to take Mayo. She was pushed around then ended up in the shelter. Because the previous owners never walked her, Mayo was a little skittish in the beginning. Through the foster’s socializing efforts, Mayo has opened up and would not stiff up when getting petted. She also improved when getting pets by strangers!

In the beginning of May this year at 4am, it suddenly started to pour outside. The rescuer opened the window to check on the rain, and that’s when she spotted Penny, just hiding by the neighbour’s garage door. She’s a dog that was part of the TNR program. The rain was so heavy that the rescuer took her in for the night. Seeing how friendly she is, the rescuer decided to rehome Penny.

She’s quiet, people oriented, and calm. She loves it when the rescuer calls her name in a high pitched voice. She runs over with a helicopter tail for pets. She walks very well on leash. She dislikes being petted on the chin, and would turn around and walk away. Sometimes when the rescuer pets her, Penny would have an expression as if she couldn’t believe that she deserves such kindness. Penny is also food driven and loves rolling on the grass!
