Felicia was a stray, and the rescuers in the area found that she was in heat. They prepared the food and traps to catch her, but Felicia came willingly gulping down the food. After scanning for chips, the rescuers found her previous owners, who didn’t care for her. The people came to the shelter and formally “abandoned her.” Seeing how loving and affectionate Felicia is, the foster took her in, and prepare her for adoption.
Felicia might have been crated for a long periods of time so she could be resistant with crates. That being said, she was quiet and patient at the airport in the crate! The foster found that if she accidentally pulled out of the harness, she would run further if being chased. Her recall is good if there’s food present. She also responds to her name. Felicia was probably abused and hit at the previous family, so she might dart when a stranger moves too quickly or displaying unfamiliar behaviours towards her.
She can be bathed but she’s not a big fan of it. She might growl to communicate but is never aggressive. Like most Formosan Mountain Dogs, she is a sassy character. A treat based training method will aide her obedience but a communicative approach will be the key to successful bonding.

When the rescuer strolled pass the fields in Southern Taiwan, she found 3 pups playing at the side of the field. Coincidentally, a young person stopped by and fed the pups. From the young man, the rescuer learned that Freddie, Addie and Lyndie were part of a litter of 6. The young man took 3 other puppies home and subsequently rehomed them. He had no choice but leaving Freddie, Addie, and Lyndie in the field due to limited financial resources to vet them. The rescuer pulled some strings and placed the pups in foster homes, so they will be in their furever home!

August was rescued from the Miaoli City Shelter. When the rescuer visited the shelter, August was 2.5 months, cute, and affectionate. After pulling her out of the shelter, the rescuer discovered her general fear towards outside and strangers. Despite her skittishness, she’s very dog friendly. She loves playing with all dogs! When facing the unknown things or people, she would suddenly get very startled, then slowly come back to investigate. Probably because she’s teething, August likes chewing toys, mats and sometimes likes to lightly grate the foster’s hand for love and play. She can be held belly-up like a baby. Even though she’s shy, she is very well behaved in grooming sessions. That being said, she’s not a big fan of the blow-dryer. She’s very playful, and would be much more obedient when food is present. She does not guard her food but will dip into other dogs’ bowls. She has mastered her basic commands, and would sit, down, and paw. In the outdoors though, she gets so startled that she can forget everything.
The current foster is a couple with no children. August lives with 1 other dog. The foster lets her out on the outdoor patio 4 times a day for potty. She can also potty on walks

*Fear for Children: She is good with children, especially if they have treats. She will probably ignore the child after she is fed

Sirus and Sara were found in the city of Chiayi traveling with their mother and 3 other siblings. The TNVR (Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) team knows it would be difficult for the pups to survive on the streets even with the mother. So the fosters were arranged, and rehome plans were initiated.
Sara sleeps with the foster at night in the bed. If she sees the other two pups trying to climb onto the bed, she would block them. Sometimes when she comes to the foster affectionately to block off the other dogs so she can have the affection all to herself. She’s a smart little girl!
Sara may be the boss of the pups, but she still need to obey the kitty! The cat of the home loves bullying the pups by hissing, slapping and chasing, but Sara is very respectful of the kitty terrorism!
Sara is still a bit more cautious with strangers. It might easier to buy her love with food. In the beginning she might not let strangers touch her. She needs to be approached slowly. If she sees the stranger petting another dog, then she will be more willing to approach. Similarly, she will approach children if there is food, but will leave once the food is done.
Being a Formosan Mountain dog cross, they will grow to a medium size dog around 20kg and of a border collie size. Due to the intelligent, sensitive, and active nature of the breed, Sara will do best in a family that has a medium to high energy life style.

Sirus is overall an easygoing pup. He does not get possessive over food, human, or anything, and is generally happy and obedient. The kitty in the foster home bosses the pups around by hissing, slapping and chasing them. The pups will dodge and not fight back. The foster gets entertained by the cat dog chase everyday.
Like most Formosans, Sirus can be cautious with sudden movements with strangers. That being said, if Sirus can see the stranger’s hand, and can understand they are trying to pet him, he’s generally accepting. This process can be easier if the strangers have some delicious food in his hand!
Being a Formosan Mountain Dog cross, Sirus will grow to a medium size dog up to 20kg with medium to medium high energy.

Both Purdy and Maxim are Formosan Cross small breed terrier (mother). The small breed terrier was kept in a cage for all 10 years of her life. The only time that she was tether out, she was in heat, and got pregnant at 10 years old. The rescuer could only recover Maxim and Purdy and the owner of the mother dog has given other puppies away.
The sisters are both affectionate and full of energy! Maxim is a beautiful medium hair girl! At the age of 4 months, they are barely at 4 kg. Both are extremely food driven. Due to the size of their mother, we think they will be at most a small medium size dog, if not smaller.

Elm was abandoned to a farm field when she only 2 months old. The farmer was not friendly to her and kicked her around like a soccer ball. The rescuer couldn’t stand watching her being abused like that and decided to save her from her miserable life.
Although Elm experienced cruelty, she never stopped loving people. She likes to be around people, dogs and cats. She is very active and cuddly. Her special skill is being well potty-trained for potty. Elm is such a sweet heart who deserves a furever home. Send your application today!

In the shelter since 2016. The rescuer subsequently took her out in 2019. She’s very cuddly and affectionate but can also hang out quietly beside her human. She is very people friendly and sometimes gets too excited when meeting little children. She loves her walks and exercises, and she will need to lose some weight to be healthy. In the foster’s home, there’s a man and a woman, and approximately 38 other dogs, small and medium sized.
Hope just arrived in Vancouver! She’s extremely affectionate and is not afraid of men at all. She generally walks well on a leash except some occasional stubbornness. When playing with other dogs, Hope is a little socially awkward. She does a very rough dominance play with other dogs and may need to be supervised at first.
