Meet Junior! He’s the pupper that has the most insane smile that will bright up your gloomy day! He loves dogs, people, children, men, even strangers. Despite never lived with a cat, he seems to show little interest in the cats he’s met at the vet. Junior enjoys to be held like a baby in his hooman’s arms and just be cuddled all day long! Being an “attention whore”, he does howl to have people notice him. Sometimes he gets so excited that he mounts, but will stop if corrected. All in all, Junior is a happy go lucky boy that will need some manner and independence training. Junior was found on March 28th when the rescuer was visiting a friend’s restaurant and that’s when she saw Junior, with a cutest head tilt and half standing ears, staring into the glass door, as if he was wondering what people are all doing. When the rescuer walked out of the restaurant to look for Junior, he already crossed the road to another shop, and smiling to charm everyone passing by. The rescuer crouches down and called Junior, and he ran right into her arms. The rest is history. Being a Formosan Mountain Dog cross, Junior will do best in a home with an owner who is active and has some experience in handling dogs. We expect Junior to be around 35-45lb when fully grown. Although Junior has shown little interest in cats, the relationship with kitties greatly depends on the handler, the temperament of the cat(s), and the set up in the home. Despite that Junior is diagnosed with elbow dysplasia, he is one happy trooper and he does not need surgery or other medical care for his elbows, just a life without long hikes or extreme athletics. Junior has medical insurance with Trupanion that covers his elbow dysplasia (and everything else) so he is covered for future veterinary needs if his adopter maintains this insurance. Junior can still be active and would suit a family that wants to spend time with him in ways that are not extremely athletic. He can go for walks off leash for an hour or two, and because he has a confident, outgoing personality he will enjoy training classes and less intensely athletic dog sports such as obedience, nosework, Rally-O or tracking. He would love accompanying his human on errands to dog friendly stores or outdoor cafés. Junior is a charmer and makes friends wherever he goes – even at the vet he convinces all the staff to pet him.
