FAQ

  1. How long does the process take
The whole process can be as fast as weeks or can take up to a month. Once the application is filled out, we will schedule a house check with you and make sure everything is good to go. Once that’s done, we search for a passenger who’s flying from Taiwan to Vancouver & your dog will be on the flight with them! (this is normally the part that takes a little bit longer but we try to limit it within a month).
  2. Do the dogs shed
Depends. Volunteers will usually update the information on the post.
  3. Are they good with kids, cats, dogs, and people
Depends. Volunteers will usually update the information on the post.
  4. Have they been dewormed, vaccinated, micro-chipped spay/neutered
They will be up to date with their vaccination when they are flown to Canada. The dogs are usually micro-chipped but please message our Page and our adoption coordinator will let you know about microchip. You will receive a vaccine passport with all the vaccines up to date when you have confirmed the adoption and that we have flown the dog over.
  5. How big will the dogs become
Depends. If they are Formosan mountain dog mix they usually grow up to mid-size. If they are puppies, there’s a chance that they might be larger (lab size) or smaller (shiba inu size).
  6. When can I meet the dog
Most of the time the dogs are in Taiwan, and will only be flown to Canada if an adoption is confirmed. However, there will be cases where the dog is flown prior to such process. In such case, the volunteer will specify on the post.
  7. Why are some dogs’ ear tips are missing
It’s like that because there’s a lot of strays in Taiwan and not all of them can be taken in by the rescuers so what they do is TNR (trap neuter and return). They sip a little bit of their ear to show that this dog is already done.
  8. How long have they been in foster
Depends. Please message our association page and our adoption coordinator will be happy to answer these questions.
Sometimes applications can be competitive, please fill out an application and schedule a home check with an inquiry attached to the application. Our adoption coordinator will be happy to answer your questions.
  9. Has the dog received any basic training, Do they know any simple commands
Depends. Please message our association page and our adoption coordinator will be happy to answer these questions. Sometimes applications can be competitive, please fill out an application and schedule a home check with an inquiry attached to the application. Our adoption coordinator will be happy to answer your question.
  10. Do they do well on leash
Depends. Usually the volunteer will post this info. When the info is not on the post, it may be that we don’t know that yet. Sometimes applications can be competitive, please fill out an application and schedule a home check with an inquiry attached to the application. Our adoption coordinator will be happy to answer your question.
  11. Will I get the medical records when the dog comes
Rabies and quarantine are mandatory. You will also receive a certificate of rabies shots.
  12. Is the dog in the shelter or in a foster home
Most of the time the dogs will be in foster home. There will be extraordinary circumstances in which case the volunteer will specify on the post.
