The Chinese new year in 2018, the rescuer was thinking of taking a light break. She went to the “Zi-nan” temple in Central Taiwan and praying for good luck the following year. That’s when she saw 4 puppies, Lulu, Harley, Jett and another pup at the parking lot, begging for food from the visitors. The rescuer couldn’t take all the pups home the day of because she was sharing a ride with a friend. She returned a few days later on March 1st to rescue the pups, only to found that one of the pups were run over by cars and passed, leaving only Lulu, Harley, and Jett.

Lulu and Harley were homed in Vancouver last year, leaving Jett, the shy and introverted giant. Jett dislikes puppies and other dogs perhaps due to his need to submit to other dogs in the parking lot when he was a pup. After a year long training, Jett could interact with children, dogs, and people normally.

After arriving in Vancouver, he has to find trust in the new people. Despite being very unsure and scared, he bonded beautifully with the foster dad! Lots of love stares and kisses. It was slow but he eventually extended his love to the foster mom. Sometimes Jett gets mad if the foster mommy pets him when he’s sleepy, but one night, he just climbed onto the couch uninvited, and just cuddled.

Jett is very laid back and attached to his people once he knows them. The new adopters will need to train him with his quirkiness towards meeting pushy dogs and puppies that don’t read social clues. He will be eventually okay with children, but we recommend an adult only household for a low stress transitioning period.

Jett heels very well on and off leash, and has wonderful recall. He is skittish and would hide behind the foster if he’s unsure of the situation.
