Skyler the 4 month old pooch is energetic, friendly, and fun to hang with. He is great with cats, kids and other dogs. His beautiful brindle marking is the signature coat of the Formosan Mountain Dog and so is his intelligent and stable demeanour. Weights 7.5kg, stands 55cm tan and 60cm long, Skyler has the privilege to impress all the potential adopters out there!
As cute and healthy as Skyler is, he had an incredibly difficult life just at 4 months old. His mother was chained in a fruit farm as a guard dog. Unfortunately, the suburb residents do not have the practice of spaying or neutering their dogs, nor do they have enough love and care for dogs to even actively and regularly feeding her. After given birth, the mother did not produce enough milk due to malnutrition and her impaired immune system caused her to contract postpartum infections. When the rescuers found her and rushed her to the hospital, it was too late. She passed on the table. Skyler was the only puppy that survived in the harsh environment out of the 6 in the litter.
The sad story did not end there. Skyler was soon adopted from a potential adopter locally, who seemed to be enthusiastic. When it all seemed like Skyler was finally able to live a furever loving life, only that the rescuer found the adopter was full of lies. Skyler again found himself in the all too familiar setting; chained in the open field without proper food and water, and was supposed guard the fruit farm. He was at the brink of collapsing when the rescuer found him.
Here at the foster home, Skyler flourished and came out of his shell as an energetic puppy. He is shy at first particularly at adult men, but will warm up to people just in the matter of a few hours. Gentle with kitties, and playful with dogs, Skyler cherishes his reclaimed life and is ready for a real new home! Being a Formosan Mountain Dog, Skyler is expected to grow up to 25kg, 75cm tall and 85cm long. Given the adaptive nature of the breed, he can do well in medium to high energy lifestyles. He will also have a short coat that sheds minimally and requires little grooming
